We’ve just attended a course teaching how to rescue seals, dolphins and other cetaceans for when they get into trouble along our coast. It’s called Marine Mammal Medic training, and it’s hosted by the good people at British Divers Marine Life Rescue. It was a one day course on Southwick Beach in Sussex, plus a few online video tutorials. It now means that we’re on the list of people in Sussex that can be called to assist in any emergencies where mammals are trapped, injured or in distress.
It was a really wonderful day, and we learned loads. We are now proudly certified as Marine Mammal Medics. Big shout out to the BDMLR for a very valuable service. Hopefully we won’t need to use our new cetacean saving skills anytime soon.
